Policy on the Use of Generative AI

Policy on the Use of Generative AI

Authors must explicitly declare the use of any Generative AI or AI-assisted technologies ("AI Tools") during the manuscript submission process.

SciEd permits the use of AI Tools to improve efficiency, synthesize literature, or enhance language. However, the following rules apply:

  • AI Tools must never replace human critical thinking. They should be used under strict supervision.
  • Authors are solely responsible for the content of the manuscript. You must verify the accuracy of all AI outputs (including references) and edit the material to ensure it represents your original analysis and voice.
  • AI Tools cannot be listed as an author or co-author. Authorship is reserved exclusively for humans.

If you have used AI Tools, you must include a disclosure statement in a new section immediately preceding the References list.

Required Format:

Section Title: Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies in the Manuscript Preparation Process

Statement: "During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [Name of Tool/Service] in order to [Reason, e.g., improve readability/brainstorm ideas]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the published article."

Exceptions: You do not need to declare the use of standard tools used solely for checking grammar, spelling, or managing references. If you have not used generative AI beyond these basic functions, no disclosure statement is required.
